racialization: Rev. angel chooses this term to affirm what is usually referred to as "race" is dynamic, impactful, and ongoing rather than fixed, passive, and "has already occurred" aka in the past. she further assumes that in the US (and within other settler-colonial entities) socialization and racialization are synonymous, co-arising, and parallel from the point at which one becomes cognizant that "race matters."

About

Being Black, Healing Black is an extraordinary gathering that will bring together Black Leaders & Titans through a public nomination process to experience a radically reimagined approach to confronting the legacy of, contending with, and ultimately, healing race.

Being Black, Healing Black is one of three seed events planned toward the creation of the Healing Race Portal.

Conceived of by Rev. angel Kyodo williams, Healing Race Portal (HRP) will be developed as an experiential journey through racialization, using sites that embody and/or reflect racial crises or history as catalysts, to propel us forward to return us home to the body where healing must take place. Carefully crafted "pop-throughs" that transmit will, by request, be disseminated to locations large and small nationwide to situated race in place — geographical, physical, physiological, experiential — in the body.

On Healing Race
By healing race, we are referring to the initiation of a generative process of metabolizing the historical, generational, epigenetic and allostatic negative impacts of racialization upon and within our bodies.

While HRP's core technologies have been tested for eight years, planting the seed for a national rollout with an experience specifically for Black people is an homage to the unique location our people have been situated within the corrupted ideal that is race.

Rev. angel will be joined by Resmaa Menakem, the celebrated therapist and leading voice on racialized trauma. Together, they will create a powerful container for embodied exploration and praxis with race unlike any other.
